You will be picked up from your hostel early for the train to Machu Picchu. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way! We will get off at Km. 104 and begin the 2 day Inca Trail between 8 am, and 9 am.
We will pass the ruins of Chachabamba (2250 m). A couple of hours later we will get to the archaeological site of Wiñawayna (2650 m). After a visit and rest, we continue until we reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate –2650m asl) for the first spectacular view of Machu Picchu. It will take us an hour from here before we reach the Inca citadel Machu Picchu, where we can take some photos in the part of the guardhouses before sunset, with hardly any other tourists around.
From here we will be transported to Aguas Calientes where we spend the night in a hotel (you can also choose to take the bus).
After a very early breakfast, we take the first bus from Aguas Calientes to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Arriving in the Inca citadel in time for the sunrise is a truly magical experience: it is the only time of day when the ruins are tranquil and nearly empty of people.
After sunrise we will have a guided tour of about two and a half hours, followed by some time free to explore the ruins). You have to be at the train station in Aguas Calientes at the least 30 minutes before your scheduled train back to Cusco.
